The 2013 seminar
Offers classes in Classical Technique, Point & Variations, Men’s class & Variations, Pas de Deux Technique & Repertory, Modern Dance and Repertory, Jazz Dance and Repertory, Spanish Classical Dance & Flamenco, Pilates & Body Conditioning.
To strengthen the Seminar both artistically and financially we are pleased to announce that Bartholin International Ballet Seminar in the future will operate and merge with the Royal Danish Ballet School.
Every year the Seminar offers courses in the tradition of renowned Danish Ballet Master August Bournonville consisting of his famous classes and repertory which is outstanding in the classical ballet tradition.
The Seminar will also have a lecture, with focus on Bournonville and his Ballets.
The instruction in Pas de Deux classes will of course take in to consideration the various levels of the prospective male dancers attending this specific class.
This year we are proud to present Spanish Classical dance and Flamenco with focus on the technique and character work necessary to obtain this specific style.
Furthermore this year we present Pilates which is an exercise technique used for generations to improve dance technique and help prevent injuries. The focus will be on strengthening the center of the body, working on articulation and control of the extremities. The class will incorporate floor barre elements with Pilates principles, to give a class that will strengthen both your body and ballet technique. We will furthermore work on awareness of anatomy and alignment of the body, to help you prevent some of the most common ballet injuries. The class will end with a blend of stretch techniques to leave you feeling invigorated and at ease in your body.
Alexei Kremnev will at the end of the Seminar select several students (ages 17-20) to receive scholarships for various Joffrey Ballet programs. Recipients may have a chance to dance with the Joffrey Ballet.
