Silja Schandorff (SS)
Born in 1969. Admitted to the Royal Danish Ballet School in 1975, apprentice in 1985, corps dancer in 1987, soloist in 1991 and principal dancer since 1992.
Appointed Artistic coordinator and ballet master at the Royal Danish Ballet in 2009. Since March 2011 she has been Deputy Artistic Director.

Principal lead and title roles: The title roles in La Sylphide, Manon and Caroline Mathilde, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Aurora in the Sleeoing Beauty, Kitri in Don Quixote, the Ballerina in Etudes, the title role and Myrtha in Giselle, Hilda and Birthe in A Folk Tale, Hippolyta/Titania in A Midsummer Nights’s Dream, Hannah Glavari in The Merry Widow, Penelope in The Odyssey, the Princess and the adult Clara in The Nutcracker.

Movement, the Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Palmyra in Adballah, Returnto a Strange Land, Stepping Stones, In the Middle Somewhat Elevated, Therpsichore in Apollon, pas de deux in Agon, Tchaikovsky’s pas de deux, and La Sonnambula.

Prices and scholarships
First Prize in the Erik Bruhn Competition in 1989, the Reumert Award as Dancer og the Year in 2001 and 2005, The 2000 European Prize, the Albert Gaubier’s Travel Grant and the Tagea Brandt’s Travel Grant. The hounour prize at Reumert 2009.Silja Schandorff is a 1st degree Knight of the Order of Dannebrog.
